Colleges opening up again, so get on the road

Colleges opening up again, so get on the road

After a long hard year of Covid closures, admissions offices and campuses are opening up again for live, in-person visits. This is great news for this year’s seniors! Much of the Class of 2021 were not able to explore campuses other than virtually, so Class of 2022, get out there.

There is no substitute for actually being on a college campus. It allows the student a chance to get an overview of how they will fit in socially and academically. It gives them an opportunity to see classrooms, workout areas, places to grab a bite to eat, and so much more. While on campus, always make sure that you take a campus tour (usually led by a student) and sit in on an information session. Both of these events will give you insight and different perspectives. Also, try and sit in on an actual class or meet with a faculty member in an area of interest. The bottom line is to soak in as much as you can during your time there. One final thought and piece of advice: put together a list of 3-4 questions that are personal to you and entail what is really important to you in the college you want to attend. Make sure you get these questions asked and answered at each college you visit.
